Take good care of your jewellery!
Gold and silver are both malleable metals that require careful treatment. Always remember to take off your jewellery before you take a shower, do the dishes, go to bed, play sports or are in similar situations where your jewellery may risk damage. Keep your jewellery in a suitable place such as a jewellery case. With time, your jewellery may suffer from wear and tear in vulnerable areas. We recommend that you submit your jewellery to a professional for examination about once a year.
Gold
The carat indicates the amount of gold in the material the ring is made of. One carat indicates that the gold weight is 1/24 of the weight of the alloy. Thus, in 18 carat jewellery, the amount of pure gold is 18/24 (75 %).
Diamonds
Diamonds may be hard but they are not indestructible. They can damage or scratch other jewellery, so we advise you to keep your diamond jewellery separately. We recommend that you clean your diamonds regularly so they retain their full lustre.
The quality of a diamond depends upon the colour, the number of impurities and how it is cut. Carat (ct) is a unit of weight for gems e.g. diamonds. The weight of one carat is 200 mg.
Silver
Our silver jewellery is composed of 92.5% silver, the rest being copper and other metals. Silver jewellery is subject to oxidation, so the best way to avoid this is simply to polish your silver regularly. You will get the best results if you use a specially made silver polish.

Carat weight is engraved in all the diamond rings. Ex. 0.24 means that the ring is encased in diamonds with a total carat weight corresponding to 0.24 carat.
Schalins mountings
Making connections is a general name for the mountings of stones in rings. The different methods for mounting in our models. Running aptitude means that the metal is folded over the edge of the diamonds.
Fade Mounting - The stones are tight on the line, set with running aptitude. The end of the bezel can be varied: oblique, straight, tip, graduated or round.
Lord Socket - stone is completely immersed in the ring. Can be taken individually, in rows or strösslad.
Körnfattning - stone is fastened with two, three or four grains.
Star Socket - The stone is fastened with four running aptitude of a star that is cut out of the ring.
Caréfattning - Square sockets where the stones fastened by running aptitude.
Heart shaped socket - Heart shaped socket where the stones fastened by running aptitude.
From Loins - The stone being incorporated between two piers of the metal. The socket may consist of several blocks and bridges of different shape.
Crab - stones attached in four claws (crab) which is raised from the ring.
If the diamond quality
Schalins rings are normally set with Wesselton VS (WVS) for diamonds 0.04 ct. and larger and with Wesselton SI (WSI) for smaller diamonds. Other grades can be offered.
Quality of diamonds is based on four factors: weight, color, clarity and cut, in English the four C one: Carat, Clarity, Colour and Cut.
Weight
Caratvikten is something that most people know. 1 Carat corresponds to 0.2 grams. The word Carat comes from the Arab word for carob tree seeds (kharrub) that the Arabs made use of as weights on their balance scales. They held a weight of 0.195 grams. Diamonds of the same weight can vary depending on how they are cut, they can be low and wide or tall and narrow.
Large diamonds are rarer than small ones, which will affect the price. Small stones with a total weight of 1 carat costs therefore considerably less than if you choose a stone that weighs 1.00 carat total. The weight given in Carat (ct.). Not to be confused with karat (K) to denote the level of fine gold in the metal.
Colors
Most diamonds have a slight tint of yellow, brown or blue. Diamonds with a distinct color is one of the rarest gemstones in the world. Very rare is the completely colorless diamonds. In most cases, you use white diamonds, which are divided by color.
Only 20% of the world's diamonds are of such high quality that they can be used for jewelry. The rest is used in industry. To determine the color of a diamond must have a way to compare with known Master Stones. In order to assess the color of the stone can not be encased. Clarity

Obvious inclusions means that an experienced observer can see the inclusions in an unmounted stone with magnifying glass with 10 times magnification. For an untrained observer, it is very difficult to see any difference in the purity of stones less than 0.20 ct.

VS (hard to detect any inclusions) for diamonds 0.04 ct. and greater
SI (relatively easy to detect inclusions) for diamonds 0.03 ct. and minor
Grinding
To grind a diamond is a highly advanced crafts. Through the Industrial Revolution in the 1800s refined grinding methods and diamonds took up the fight with the cultured pearl as the most popular adornment in jewelry. A rough diamond looks basically like any stone. The most common cut is round brilliant cut, with the cut sides 57, but may also be oval, heart-shaped or teardrop-shaped. Brilliant cut means that the stone has 57 facets, 33 on the upper side and 24 on the underside. In Scandinavia, brilliant cut diamonds are most common.
Care
Because gold is a soft material that is sensitive to knocks and scratches. Here, we present how to deal with gold and diamonds to the ring will stay fresh longer.
It is important to polish diamond rings regularly so that they would be lovely as long as possible. All gemstones - especially diamonds - loses its shine if they are dirty or if the ring is bold. Therefore, the rings cleaned preferably weekly. We also recommend that you take off the rings at night, before the heavier work, the cooking, washing and cleaning.
You can clean your rings with eg an old, soft toothbrush and regular detergent. Make a solution of lukewarm water and detergent and let the jewelry be in a while. Clean the jewelry thoroughly with a toothbrush, do not forget the inside and especially the pierced holes of diamond rings inside. It brings together most of the dirt. Rinse under running water and dry with paper towels or a soft cloth. Detergent for this are jewelry shops.
One can submit their diamond jewelry in the service of a jeweler every year or every other year. Our manufacturing plant is located in Östersund. All manufacturing of rings made by machine and hand-crafting. So here's how.
Melting of gold
We melt gold in a traditional way in their own ovens. Most of it is in 18 carat, but even 14 carat and 9 carat. The gold is poured into tubes which are then processed in a machine to get the right structure, diameter and thickness of current production. The tubes are cut to the nutrients in the current width is then heated to a precise temperature to right softness and pliability in the further production. This manufacturing method achieved a clear advantage, the rings will be seamless.
Call Production

White gold
